Core Vaccines for Dogs and Cats.
To reduce the risk of illness, dogs should receive vaccines for hepatitis, rabies, parvovirus, and distemper. Cats should receive vaccines for panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus type I, and rabies.
Depending on your pet's health, they should also receive shots for bronchiseptica, leptospira bacteria, and feline leukemia, bordetella, and feline immunodeficiency virus respectively.
THE PET VACCINATION SCHEDULE.
When and how frequent your pet should be vaccinated depends upon their age, medical history, and lifestyle. States may also have their own laws and regulations for how often pets must renew their vaccinations. Rabies vaccinations are almost universally mandatory. Similar to human vaccinations, your pets receive a small dosage of the illness in order to strengthen their immune system against it.
